Closing the Golden Door: Asian Migration and the Hidden History of Exclusion at Ellis Island

May 7 - 7:00pm to 8:30pm

How does Asian American history look different when we focus on the East Coast instead of the West? What happens to our view of Ellis Island when we think about Asian migrants, not just Europeans? Join us for an easy-to-follow look at Asian American history in New York and New Jersey.

Anna Pegler-Gordon is a Professor of Asian Pacific American Studies at Michigan State University. She also worked at the National Museum of American History. She is the author of, Closing the Golden Door: Asian Migration and the Hidden History of Exclusion at Ellis Island.
