The East Brunswick community brought home top honors at the Association of New Jersey Environmental Commissions’ 2025 Environmental Congress.
East Brunswick Public Library, East Brunswick Sustainability Task Force, and the Friends of the East Brunswick Environment Commission received the 2025 Environmental Achievement Award for the WeCycle recycling lecture series. This is the third time the partnership has won the award.
“We were ecstatic to receive this award again,” said Melissa Hozik, Adult Programming Librarian at East Brunswick Public Library. “This year’s program series featured experts from county and state agencies addressing local recycling challenges.”
Several topics were addressed, including changes to recycling practices and the impact of international policies. The programs featured speakers from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and Middlesex County’s Solid Waste Management and Environmental Division.
Since 2017, the partnership between the East Brunswick Public Library, Friends of the East Brunswick Environment Commission and other local partners have been collaborating to promote environmental education and sustainability through the Option Green program series.
