This presentation, led by Professor Randall Westbrook, will explore the origins and meanings of the famed Harlem Renaissance.  This will be hosted on Zoom, and instructions to connect are listed below.  More than a nostalgic look at the works of people like Langston Hughes, Zora Neale Hurston and others, the talk will also explore the social and political significance of the period, what we can learn from it, and how it relates to modern day developments.

In this webinar, the speaker will
• Share the anatomy or key elements of a contract
• Point out the elements of the contract with the highest potential to lead to disputes
• Identify techniques for you to avoid or mitigate the potential risks
• Identify the best practices to proactively manage contractual relationships

We will be reading The Sellout by Paul Beatty.  A biting satire about a young man's isolated upbringing and the race trial that sends him to the Supreme Court, Paul Beatty's The Sellout showcases a comic genius at the top of his game. It challenges the sacred tenets of the United States Constitution, urban life, the civil rights movement, and the father-son relationship.  Beatty's novel is decidedly funny in a way that will make you consider the role of race in American society.
