Picture Book

Owl Bat, Bat Owl

An owl and a bat family endeavor to share living spaces on the same tree branch, where initial wariness is overcome by the curiosity of the families' babies on a wild and stormy night that compels them to set aside their apprehensions.

Fox's Garden

One snowy night, a fox loses its way, entering a village. Chased away by the grown ups, Fox takes shelter in a greenhouse. A little boy sees this from his window. Without hesitating, he brings a basket of food to the greenhouse, where he leaves it for the fox. His gift is noticed and the night becomes a garden of new life, nourished by compassion and kindness.

Good Dog, Carl

This is a tale of timeless appeal--the original Carl book. Its pictures are so vivid and alive that hardly a word is needed to tell the story. An infant is left in the care of a dog while Mother is out. The two get into all sorts of mischief, but trusty Carl puts everything in order in time for Mother's return.

The Snowman

When his snowman comes to life, a little boy invites him home and in return is taken on a flight high above the countryside.  This beautiful wordless picturebook, similar in theme to Frosty the Snowman and The Polar Express, is a rare example of a lovely book that was made into an even better film.  View it on Hoopla using your library card.
